Frequently Asked Questions

When is the recommended time of service for coilovers?

The recommended overhaul service interval for dampers is 3 years or 80,000 kms if the damper is used only for daily driving on paved roads.  If your dampers see track time or off-road timer, then the recommended service interval will be shorter.

2.

I bought my coilovers second-hand, how do I know if it is due for an overhaul?

Coilovers sometimes show traces of oil leaks on the damper body, this is a clear indication that it is due for an overhaul.  If there is no such leaks, try pushing down on the damper shaft.  If you can push it down without any difficulty, then overhaul is long overdue.

3.

How much does repair/overhaul cost?

As a general rule, we do not give estimates on the cost of repair/overhaul.  It is because repairs are done on the internal components.  Our Technician needs to disassemble your dampers to assess and determine what needs to be done.

Take note that the cost of overhaul varies from coilover to coilover depending on the mileage put on the dampers, the type of driving, maintaenance of the dampers, extent of damage due to the above mentioned, etc.

Depending on whatever else needs to be changed, the cost of your overhaul will go up from there.

4.

What is included in the Overhaul Base Price?

The Overhaul Base Price includes cleaning of the damper, replacement of all seals, changing the damper oil and recharging the gas.

Overhaul Base Price do NOT include external or internal damper parts.

Needed external replacement parts will be determined at the time of inspection.  Needed internal replacement parts will be determined at the time of service.

5.

What is the turnaround time for an overhaul?

Depending on whether we have all of the parts in stock needed to finish your overhaul or if the parts need to be ordered, the ETA changes.

If all the parts are in stock:  1 week from the date of the overhaul approval by the client.

If parts are to be ordered:  2 weeks from the date of the overhaul approval.

6.

What is the complete overhaul process?

When we receive your dampers, they are inspected by a technician and an estimate is made within 1-2 days of receipt.  You will then be contacted by Coilover Specialist by mail/Messenger regarding the overhaul estimate and return shipping fees, both of which will need to be prepaid prior to any overhaul service being done.  After the payment is confirmed, the technician will begin the overhaul service.

Upon completion of the overhaul service, you will receive a completion email/message notifying you.  The dampers will then be shipped back to you.

7.

What kind of damage is reaprable and what is irreparable?

A visual inspection by a technician is necessary to determine whether a damper is reparable or not.  Visual inspections are free of charge.

If the damage is heavy (incurred from an accident or so), a Pre-Inspection Disassembly may be needed.  A Php300/damper Pre-Inspection Disassembly Fee and Labor is used to determine if the damper can, in fact, be rebuilt or not; and also to aid us in making a more accurate quote for you, the customer.

After the overhaul is finished, the Php300/damper fee will be credited towards the overall Overhaul Fee.  However, if, after the damper has been broken down, you, the customer, decides to cancel the overhaul, or if the damper is determined to be unusable/irreparable by the technician, the Php300/damper fee will not be refunded.

Upon request, the damper can be returned to you, the customer, however, it will be returned assembled without gas or oil.

8.

What payment method can I use?

Coilover Specialist accepts payments via bank deposits or online transfers only.

Personal or company checks are not accepted.

9.

Can I bring my car over for repair and overhauling to Coilover Specialist?

Unfortunately, we do not have the facilities to disassemble your car so we do not accept any request from customers who wish to bring in their vehicle.  Have the dampers removed at your local garage, dealer or by yourself, then send them to us.
